Scott Creek Cemetery

Scott Creek was named after the Scott brothers who grazed cattle near the creek. It did not gain prominence until 1850 when copper was discovered by George Mackareth which became known as the Wheal Maria.
George was gored to death by one of his bulls in 1870 after which his widow, Sarah, subdivided their Almanda estate. Wheal Maria now became known as the Almanda mine.
